DTDC Courier tracking number format
A DTDC Courier tracking number is also called the AWB, consignment or docket number. It is usually a 9-character code: one capital letter followed by eight digits, like D12345678. If a seller booked the shipment for an online order, you may instead have a plain numeric reference number from them, and DTDC Courier courier tracking accepts either one. About DTDC Courier
DTDC is a name that turns up almost everywhere in India when people talk about couriers and parcels. The company behind it is DTDC Express Limited, and the story goes back to 1990 in Bengaluru. Its founder, Subhasish Chakraborty, began with a modest desk-to-desk courier service, and that small idea gave the brand its full name: Desk to Desk Courier & Cargo. From the start, local partners were allowed to open and run their own DTDC outlets under a franchise model, which is a big reason it reached so many corners of the country. The work it handles today is wide. One letter, a parcel that needs to move the same day, or a shipment heading overseas.
When you book anything with DTDC, the consignment is tagged with a number you can follow. People call it different things: the AWB, the consignment number, sometimes the docket number. Usually it runs to nine characters, a single capital letter and then eight digits after it. There is an exception. Parcels from online shopping often carry a plain number given by the seller instead, and that one is just as fine for checking progress. It helps to keep a few real things in mind. Booked your parcel only recently? Wait a few hours before checking, since the first proper scan is recorded once the courier has actually picked the item up and sorted it. On longer trips the status might stay on 'In Transit' for a day or two, which is perfectly ordinary. A quiet stretch is not a sign that anything has gone wrong. Keep your booking receipt safe, the one with the consignment number printed on it. - Consignment Booked
- A pickup has been requested and your parcel is registered with DTDC, waiting to be collected by the courier from the sender.
- Softdata Upload
- The booking details have been uploaded to DTDC's system but the parcel hasn't been physically scanned yet — normal for a freshly booked shipment.
- In Transit
- Your parcel is moving through the DTDC network, between hubs and sorting facilities toward the destination city. This can stay put for a day or two on longer routes.
- Reached Destination Branch
- The shipment has arrived at the DTDC branch nearest the delivery address and is being lined up for delivery.
- Out for Delivery
- A DTDC delivery agent has your parcel on the vehicle and is bringing it to your address, usually the same day.
- Delivered
- The parcel has been handed over to the recipient; the entry shows the date and time of delivery.
- Undelivered / Attempted
- Delivery was tried but could not be completed — address or recipient unavailable, for instance — and DTDC normally re-attempts on the next working day.
- RTO (Return to Origin)
- After repeated failed attempts or a return request, the shipment is sent back to the sender.

Common tracking problems
- Number not working right after booking
- A freshly booked docket takes a few hours to show up. Leave it till the next day and check again. Still blank? The booking branch can confirm your consignment number was keyed in correctly.
- Tracking number not recognised at all
- Go through it digit by digit first. One wrong character and it fails. And make sure you're using the docket or AWB number from DTDC Courier, not the seller's order or reference number. That one won't work here.
- Status hasn't changed for several days
- Parcels often sit quietly between scans as they move from one hub to the next, so a still status is usually nothing to worry about. If days pass with no movement, ring the booking branch or customer care with your docket number.
- Out for delivery but nothing came
- Maybe the rider couldn't reach you, or simply ran out of daylight, and it rolls to the next working day. Keep your phone close. If you got a slip or the status shows a missed attempt, call and fix a redelivery.
- Shows delivered but I've got nothing
- Ask around first. A neighbour, a family member, the guard or reception often takes it in for you. If nobody has it, get on to customer care quickly with your docket number and ask them to check who signed for it.
- Where do I find my number?
- If a shop or seller booked it, the docket number is with them, usually printed on the bill or sent by SMS. Ask them for the DTDC Courier courier tracking number and you can follow the parcel yourself from there.
